📍2018 — From Vision to Community

Nigerian Barracks Alumni Network (NiBAN) is founded by Dr. Joel Adams, the son of a retired Nigerian Army Warrant Officer. Having grown up within the barracks system, Joel witnessed the daily struggles of military families—sacrifices often overlooked and rarely supported. NiBAN emerged as a platform to unite these families and advance their socio-economic wellbeing.

🌍British Military Service & A Turning Point

Dr. Adams was later commissioned as an officer in the British Armed Forces in 2020, where he encountered a stark contrast: comprehensive welfare structures, robust mental health programmes, and dignified veteran care. This experience highlighted the deep disparity in support systems between Nigeria and other nations—and sparked a mission for change.

🔄2022 — Evolution into Heroes Help

Moved by a sense of duty and national pride, Dr. Adams transformed NiBAN into Heroes Help, a tri-service charity dedicated to supporting serving personnel, veterans, and their families across the Nigerian Armed Forces. This reimagining was made possible by his personal seed fund, demonstrating a deep personal commitment to the cause.

❤️A Mother’s Legacy

The spirit of Heroes Help also draws strength from the legacy of Mrs. Mary Adams, Dr. Adams’ late mother. As a nurse at the iconic 44 Military Hospital in Kaduna during the Nigerian Civil War, she saved lives on both sides of the conflict with compassion and courage. Her legacy lives on in every life Heroes Help touches.
